No: But cold weather can potentially cause gouty crystal proliferation. That would be around distal joints like your big toe.

Gout!: My personal doc is Clinoril (sulindac). It has less GI side effects than the historically used Colchicine (taken until symptoms resolve or GI upset). As a secondary, I am happy using Prednisone for those sensitive to nsaids.

Tripe is protein.: Menudo, of course, is a soup that contains tripe, which is a source of protein.  You can have it, as it probably doesn't have that much protein in general, as opposed to eating a steak or large piece of fish.  So I would think that having menudo on occasion would be fine with a history of gout.  You don't have to avoid protein, just limit overall.

Yes: Gout is related to uric acid. Alcohol and meats can raise uric acid levels. Ben franklin, a famous gout sufferer realized this and attributed his gout to the rich foods that he liked.

Until controlled: Until you gout is controlled  they can be  common. Once your  uric acid level is controlled - usually staying under  6, then your  body is much less likely to form monosodium urate  crystals which are the crystals  that precipitate in your  tissues and your  body and cause gout. This will control your  gout  and this will depend on your  compliance  to your  medications.

Yes: Gout can cause red, swollen, painful joints. Sometimes it can be asymptomatic. The joint between the foot and the big toe is often involved. These symptoms typically occur after a large meal or after drinking alcohol. Can also occur in the knee. Caused by purine metabolism problems.  Gout should be evaluated and treated by a physician.

Moderation: You can eat almost anything in moderation. Large quantities of beer, red meats and shellfish can cause flare-ups in some people.
