Fuller lips: This produce can be used in several areas of the lip. You can enhance the boarder where the red lip meets the flesh colored skin defining the shape a bit more. You can inject into the area where the pink moist surface meets the dry surface this will plump the lip. Lips swell and are painful to inject you may need a dental block for pain. Expect swelling for a few days

Return to doc...: Get an appointment today to be seen by the doctor who did the cosmetic lip injection.  You may be having an allergic reaction to the substance that was injected; however, you need an exam to determine if this is the case and the appropriate management.  If you have any throat swelling or difficulty breathing contact EMS immediately.  Take care.

Call doctor: It is unusual to have developed allergic to Restylane (dermal fillers) and yes you may need a short course of prednisone.

Temporary: Lumps will go down, but it might take several months.  Dissolving injections (hyalurinidase) are not necessary unless the lumps are large and you want them gone now.  Tenderness will resolve on its own.

Pretty safe: Restylane (dermal fillers) is Hyaluronic acid and there is something called hyaluronidase that can be injected to help break it down.  Really the doc who did the procedure should learn to use it if s/he is going to be injecting and if you trust him/her to work through this with you.  The hyaluronidase is a bit expensive.  You might be able to negotiate the cost if agreed that you got more Restylane (dermal fillers) than needed.

Time: It will take time for this to resolve since any attempt to try to dissolve the collagen is likely to cause more problem than benefit.

Normal or overfilled: Allergic reactions to ha fillers are rare. It's more likely you are temporarily swollen just from being poked. Ice and ibuprofen are your best treatment for the first 2 to 3 days after fillers.  If the swelling persists after 3 days then you might be overfilled and you can discuss with your injector about reversal

Restylane- Patience: Restylane (dermal fillers) is an excellent filler.  However, it is "hydrophilic" which means that it attracts water.  That means that you will swell a lot for about 3 to 4 days, possibly longer if you get bruising too.

I would recommend patience and faith.  Allow a minimum of 2 weeks before you judge your result.  Then if you don't like them, return to your doctor to see what can be done. Dissolving is an option.
