prescribed elidel has not worked, skin patchiness is getting worse. any advise would be appreciated. ive changed to non fragrance mild face soap. ?

: You should use sunscreen in addition to different accessories that help protect your skin, the fact that you are thoroughly washing your face or affected areas helps a lot since you eliminate dust, dirt, grease or any contaminant and I was forgetting it too your diet has a lot to do try not to eat fat

Red flaky face/chest: It sounds like you may have something called seborrheic dermatitis.  Elidel (pimecrolimus) may be helpful, but alternate use of otc anti-dandruff shampoos a couple of times a week may be all you need.  There are several types of skin problems that can cause what you describe, so your best bet is to see a dermatologist for an evaluation.

Heard from whom?: you have been seen by a professional whose clinical judgement was to prescribe you the said medicines according to your case,so kindly follow what your doctor advised you to, and keep the follow up.The steroid cream prescribed, Travocort, is a potent one,pls don't exceed the prescribed duration. I know you may be frustrated, but you need to trust your doctor. Elidel/Protopic aren't meant 4 ur case

what happens if you get elidel on the healthy surrounding skin? does it damage it? i have a small area of hypo it was prescribed for but i am having trouble only getting it on the spot?

: Higher potency steroids can thin the target skin problem and any surrounding areas it comes in contact. Thinner skin can be easier to injure with minor trauma.The effect would be gradual and if noted can resolve simply by stopping the application at the site.
