after my hellers myotomy i cannot have a bm (4weeks later) is it possible that surgery damaged my nerves? could they recover? i am on lots of medication from dr which is still not working currently and see surgeon next week?

: I am assuming this surgery was on your esophagus? If so, then the nerves controlling the ability to produce a bowel movement should not have been affected. Either way you need to discuss with your primary care doctor about evaluation &amp; treatment.

scratched a scab on my knee. went to clean it up and saw a big clot formed. i know clotting is normal but is it normal to happen that fast? normally bleeds for a bit. i do have pv, but my cbc is normal as of last week?

: You should only concern if bleeding is prolonged not shortened. In polycythemia vera (PV) high platelet count does not mean your bleeding time will be shortened; further, your CBC was normal last week. There is nothing to concern in this case.

right testicle occasional mild pain.scrotum area warm.when feeling testicles,top of left one leans forward,top of right one leans backwards,forming an x from the side.has been the case for weeks,pain has gone for 2 week?

: Testicles are highly mobile in the scrotum so don't t worry about their position, as long as you don't have pain. Wear a good supporting brief type underwear, it will help

i have narcolepsy and have not been able to fall asleep or stay asleep for many nights. i currently take 1.5mg klonopin and 50mg trazodone at night. is it ok to take .5mg klonopin, 5mg ambien and 25mg trazodone for a week?

: Caution would be suggested. None of the drugs you mention is recommended as treatment for narcolepsy as they are mostly used to induce sleep. Your best reference remains your prescribing doc who will be able to weigh in having a clear clinical context.

recurring periods of pain where my right eye pressured & hurts looking side2side, the pain always spreads to right side nose and right side inner ear. like a hook connecting them all. no ear infection. possible causes? lasts weeks?

: For anything that causes eye pain, it is best not to delay but to see a competent medical personnel to examine you so you could receive appropriate treatment. There are different and many causes that unless you are comprehensively evaluated it may not be obvious, and eye is a vital organ you do not want to delay diagnosis and appropriate management. It may be your sinuses but best be evaluated.

Expired meds: Two sides to this answer -   the "legal" side  - no - medications have expiration dates for reasons  of potency and sterility.   Over time medicatons lose their potency and if it is a multiple dose vial - the issue of sterility comes into play.     Now the "practical" answer - yes- if the vial was only used for you and the fluid appears clear it should be safe to use - the potency may be diminishe.

can i increase my height at age 17 and 5 months ? my goal is to increase my tall 11cm in 6months before age 18 ?

Accepted Answer

: Any increase in height would require open growth plates in your long bones. An x-ray of your wrist/hand can be assessed for growth plates, if open, more height is possible, if closed you are done. Growth plates in males usually close by 16-17. If they have closed, no hormone/diet/exercise will increase your height.

can i contract covid a 2nd time 6months after? if so, is the experience likely to be worse or better than the first?

Accepted Answer

: It is possible, especially with the omicron variant, but would expect a mild infection at most, and very low risk for hospitalization.  Some "experts" recommend vaccination even when you do achieve natural immunity from your original infection, as the variant forms may still be a risk.

my child has completed 6months. she weighs 6.6 kgs.is it ok now.... can i give eggs orally in addition to formula and my feed.?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Unless there is an egg allergy in a close family member, eggs are okay to give at this age. Older books might contradict this, but new research and recommendations allow eggs.  There is a lot of confusion on this topic because the recommendations have changed, but current research says it is okay to give eggs.
