Normal wt: BMI 20-25: Bmi is the best way to determine ideal weight. There are many free bmi calculators. Less than 25 is desirable. Over 25 is overweight. Of course, there are thin people who are in terrible shape (weak, and fatigue easily). So, it is also important to exercise, feel vigorous, and good about yourself.

should i ever choose a doctor based on radio advertisement?

Accepted Answer

Depends: An advertisement maybe useful in finding out about a certain doctors office hours, areas of interest etc..  It does not necessarily tell you about things like clinical knowledge , personality or bedside manner.  These can be learned by speaking with friends, family , other medical professionals and even by talking with the doctor for an initial introductory appointment in some cases.

Accepted Answer

Holistic/Integrative: Unfortunately, most doctors receive very little training in nutrition. An exception is doctors who specialize in holistic and integrative medicine, who have both interest and training in nutrition. See http://www.abihm.org/search-doctors. what are the benefits for doctors to  convert to electronic health records from a paper-based record?

Accepted Answer

No difference: Whether a doctor has emr or not, that should not impact patient care. There may be some advantages with emr in the long run. Easy transfer of records between specialists, ease of access from anywhere, legibility, prevention of medical errors/ decreased prescription errors etc.

are colonics of any medical benefit or is it based on new age myths there is conflicting info from doctors ?

Accepted Answer

No Health Benefit: I have never once heard of a physician recommending colonics.  This fad has not been fueled by any medically valid medical need or condition.  Your Body has a marvelous mechanism for eliminating waste through urine or through stool.  No reason to mess around with an elimination system that is already working well.

can doctors have a good idea if you have crohn's during a colonoscopy based on features and characteristics?

: Usually, yes -- by visual appearance confirmed by biopsy. Other lab tests like fecal calprotectin and blood inflammatory markers (sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein) also are helpful.

as a doctor, would u sugest an estrogen or progesterone based bc since i am highly prone to cysts, let alone have them.?

Estrogen/progestin: To avoid misunderstanding, all bc is basically progestational in action - that's how it works - regardless of whether it contains estrogen or not. There is no science to give  a'rule' about which is more effective/less risky for functional ovarian cysts, it's based on trial and error. That said, i think most do better with a combination oc containing both, start with that.

don't remember my lmp, i think 01/01/13. my doctor says due date 10/06 based on 12w3d u/s. could i have concieved from protected sex 12/29?

Not likely: Based on that us and your last menstrual period, you would have conceived around january 12th.  Good luck!
