Depends: An advertisement maybe useful in finding out about a certain doctors office hours, areas of interest etc.. It does not necessarily tell you about things like clinical knowledge , personality or bedside manner. These can be learned by speaking with friends, family , other medical professionals and even by talking with the doctor for an initial introductory appointment in some cases.
