how many prunes should i eat to get rid of my severe constipation?

May or may not help: Eating prunes can help, but it does not work for everyone. I have never seen or heard of prune-overdose, so enjoy as many as you wish. If not better in 2-3 days, try miralax, (polyethylene glycol) fibercon, senokot-s, colace, Metamucil etc... For quicker relief, enema may help. Occasional use of milk-of-magnesia or mag-citrate for really-backed cases. If persistent, consult doc. Good luck.

Eat your fiber: Lots of water and fiber are requirements for evryone.  If you tend to be constipated then you need more fiber.  You masy need to add more metamucil but must also add it to your diet.  I also recommend an evaluation by your physician and you may need a colonoscopy or other colon screening as well.

i lately have been experiencing a level of constipation ranging from hard to a little straining and seems to depend on what was eaten. but i eat veggies/fruit, drink some prune juice but may still have a level of straining. why?

: For constipation - You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult this site for fiber foods.

Constipation: This is prob the most common chronic prob in kids. Best tx with diet: increase fluids, fruit, fiber decrease: bread, milk, meat. As a sideline give 5gm: fiber one bar daily if diet wont work so stool will be soft then dont potty train till poop is regular. When in pain try hot bath and numb rectum with hemorrhoid numbing meds.

See your doctor.: You should see your doctor to make sure there isn't any underlying medical problem causing this. If that is ruled out, the doctor may be able to recommend a different, more effective medication.

Abdominal pain: Would need much more information and the ability to examine you in order to respond helpfully. If you have been constipated for some time this may be producing a physiological obstruction, or it may be due to an anatomical obstruction. You really need to be examined and a full history taken. See your family doctor.

Water: Constipation is usually from too much constipating food, not enough fiber, or not enough water.   If he was never constipated before, try a couple of ounces of water once or twice a day.  If that doesn't help, consider that what you regard as not to much rice might actually be too much for him.  Is he eating fruits and vegetables?  Those help a lot.

No  raisins cause ga: Gas, there are many laxatives u can use   please call your OB to see what your OB recommends, but you want to get on a stool softener to prevent constipation.

All depends: It depends on what's causing your constipation. Adding fiber (Prunes, Metamucil, Etc) may help relieve your symptoms. Drinking lots of water would be helpful. But the best option is to see your General Physician to find out what's causing the constipation and treating the cause, not just the symptoms.

All fruits: Vegetables and grains along with adequate fluid(80-100) ounces per day is effective. Eliminate caffeine and alcohol.
