Diuretic: No a doctor will not drain the edema but rather place you on a diuretic eg water pill for your body to secrete the excess fluid most likely or use a unna boot vs compression stocking. The etiology of the fluid retention should however be determined.First.

Yes: Generalized edema is due to low Albumin levels in the serum and not frequently seen with cancer.  Edema of the extremities can be caused by cancer in the pelvis obstruction the return flow of blood from pressure on in iliac vessels. This js a  more frequent finding.

Edema?: Lower extremity edema has many causes including cumulative damage to lymphatic drainage from surgery, trauma, infiltrating disease and infection. Elevation, compression and exercise are the mainstays of therapy.  Avoidance of salt works better than diuretics which may not work at all in edema due to lymphatic blockage.

Needs treatment: Total body edema is caused by excess salt retention by the kidneys and can be seen in certain disorders of the kidney, heart, or liver. All 3 need evaluation and you should limit salt intake severely. Your doctor will very likely need to prescribe one or more diuretics.

Simply speaking, they are the factories to generate the products that the body can use and eliminate the side products that body will not use or too much. Once they fail to function normally, fluid with those material cannot be eliminated, fluid will accumulate inside the body.

i am prescribed adderall ir 20mg 2x a day. can the adderal cause bloating and/or swelling or retain fluid? if so, what can i take or do to try to subside these reactions? tia?

: Many potential side effects for adderall are listed, but fluid retention is not one of them. Your hormones may  play a role in fluid retention. Avoid salty foods&amp;beverages,don't add salt. Taking a low dose diuretic a week before your period should prevent excess fluid retention.  Discuss this with your MD or gynecologist.   Take a potassium supplement with the diuretic.

i urinate more often and in greater amts in the few days immediately after my period ends. is it my body's way of shedding pms/period retained fluid?

PMS: H2O retention: There is a certain amount of water retention at the time of one's menses, and as you have observed, this may result in more urinary output once the hormones have returned to low levels post period. This process can be accentuated if you have consumed more sodium (salt) just prior to your period.  Good question, though !
