6 TO 8 A DAY: It depends on what you are taking advll for.The maximum prescription dose if tolerated by some is 3200 mgm that is 16 200 mgm tab of advil
but that is under medical supervision by prescription by a physician who knows the reason you are prescribed the drug
so for over the counter i will suggest do not exceed 6to8 tablets per day, that is if you can tolerate it.

i have found that advil (ibuprofen) cold & sinus works before for me to keep my sinus symptoms at bay. will it hurt me at all to take one a day?

NO: This should not hurt you. One problem may be aggravating acid reflux.

: Consistent use of OTC analgesics, such as Excedrin or Advil, can result in Chronic Daily Migraines, and this pattern will worsen the longer to medication persists.  Frequent migraines are best handled by working with a headache  specialist or a neurologist.

i swallowed an advil 2 years ago without water and it got stuck in my throat and burned bad for at least a day. will this have resulted in a stricture of my esophagus? or would  it have just healed? does it only take one burn to cause a stricture?

Usually not: Usually esophageal strictures result from severe trauma or alkali burns(e.g. Draino) of the esophagus or repetitive injury of the esophagus.

what causes swollen lymph nodes in the groin? i dont have a fever or anything like that. it just happened one day. and my doctor said bacteria most likely went in. told me to take advil. will it go away on its own? scared its cancer.

Inguinal lymph node: There are many causes of inflamed inguinal (groin) llymph nodes, mostly not serious. It is not likely the initial symptom of cancer. Minor infection of the leg or feet is possible, but usually only one side. Mononucleosis. Cat scratch disease occurs in cat owners or others with contact with cats (scratch isn't necessary). CSD needs antibiotic treatment; tell doctor ASAP if you've had cat contact.

can someone overdose on advil? like if they take too much in one sitting? i get some painful headaches so i'm wondering if i were to take like idk 20 would i die from it or would you need more for that? and whats the safest amount to take for headach?

: With advil OTC, the strength is 200 mg for one tablet and an otherwise healthy young adult can take a maximal dose of 600 mg (3 tablets of 200 mg) every 6 or 800 mg (4 tablet of 200 mg) every 8 hours so the total tablets should not more than 12 tablets of 200 mg in 24 hours.
For headache, you should not take more than twice a day at maximal dose and do not take more than 2 days a week. Take care.

Depends.: If the advil (ibuprofen) are 200 mg Ibuprofen and you are an otherwise healthy person with no contraindications.  No pregnancy, no GI bleeding, no renal insufficiency.  That is a prescription dose and we only recommend high doses like that with professional counsel.  It's better to stick with the dose on the bottle unless your personal physician has instructed you otherwise.  High dose nsaids have risk.
