Inguinal lymph node: There are many causes of inflamed inguinal (groin) llymph nodes, mostly not serious. It is not likely the initial symptom of cancer. Minor infection of the leg or feet is possible, but usually only one side. Mononucleosis. Cat scratch disease occurs in cat owners or others with contact with cats (scratch isn't necessary). CSD needs antibiotic treatment; tell doctor ASAP if you've had cat contact.

Basics: Lymph glands generally swell after stimulation and can do so after a general illness, vaccinations, or if limited to one area, some local factors. Bug bites, infection or skin irritation on that leg or nearby skin will do it.They enlarge and gradually shrink back to resting size within 3-4 weeks, when behaving normally. I would give it time and recheck if it persists too long.
