The nature of the biome or bacterial population is important and with chronic colitis repeat colonoscopies with bx is essential.  The incidence of dysplasia after being followed for 10 yrs is about 2% and at 30 yrs, 18%. , .

i have pancolitis for over a month they originally thought was from c diff. c diff went away awhile ago but colitis still present. chemo put off 2x so it could heal. tomorrow chemo is set even tho nothing changed. dr said not sure what will happen?

: It will probably take collaboration between your oncologist and a gastroenterologist to determine the cause of your persistent diarrhea and the best treatment for it.  It may be post C Diff irritable bowel syndrome that you're experiencing. Appropriate testing must be done. You don't want to put off your chemotherapy too long.

i dont have diarrhea, but do have pancolitis distention and periodic pain since 3/23. chemo was put off 2x already to give it time to heal. it has been stable but not better. chemo is scheduled for tomorrow. will tchp chemo damage gut more?

i had a pancolitis by using mesalazine (asa), a allergic reaction .could it be that this is the cours of my colitis? i used many years ibroprofen?

Unlikely: Mesalamine is used to treat a colitis that is already present, or to prevent colitis from recurring. Mesalamine can cause side effects, as do all other drugs.  Rarely, some patients have increased intestinal symptoms when they take a Mesalamine compound.

i have been diagnosed with pancolitis. i have had diarrhea for four days straight and it is now a slimy bright green sludge. i began flagyl and cipro, how long it will take for the diarrhea to stop and my stool to return to normal?

: The answer here mostly depends on how severe your colitis really is. These two will return to normal when the lining cells of the colon are able to regenerate. I would imagine you will begin to see some improvement within a week or two. Maybe sooner. Make sure you stay well hydrated. Good luck.
