34 yr old female, undergone myomectomy three months back but having a slight swelling 2cms away from the naval incision on the right side.please guide ?

Not to worry: It could be a small stitch granuloma- which is a reaction of the body to getting rid of the suture; or it could be a small seroma-which a small walled off fluid filled sac.  You should probably have the doctor that did the surgery take a look and see what they think.  If it is one of the two things, it generally will go away on its own; but may need to be removed.

Question 2

had a robotic keyhole myomectomy 3 weeks ago. the umbilical incision is painful and swollen. so is the area around the navel. could it be hernia? the swelling on top of the belly button never gone down?

Accepted Answer

: There are many possible etiologies-including an incisional infection. You should call the surgeon so this can be examined and treated by the surgeon. You may need antibiotics if it is an infection and it may need to be treated if it is a hernia. But, your surgeon needs to examine you to make a diagnosis. Good luck!

i had a myomectomy & never had any std to block tubes only big fibroids, tubes were swollen after myomectomy will swelling interfere with ttc?

Depends: If swelling of tubes are  from fibroids blocking blood flow then the swelling should reduce after surgery. If tubes are patent then you should be able to conceive. Sometimes, you may have pelvic infection in the tubes without an STD. I am sure your doctor checked the potency of your tubes 
Either way, you must be aware of increased tubal pregnancy rates if tubes are nor normal. Good Luck.

since uterus & fallopian tubes were swollen after myomectomy & dye didn't pass threw how long will it take for swelling to go down so i can start ttc?

Need to repeat: One should not assume that closed fallopian tubes on an HSG were due to swelling. If you are having trouble getting pregnant then the HSG will need to be repeated to confirm tubal closure or patency. The next steps depend on those results.

laprascopic myomectomy was done and it was swole where my incision was near my navel to the left. it went down but looks like its back swell. i have some mild pain too. is this normal. i had this a week ago exactly 12/5. no pus or redness either.  ?

Laparosccopy: The procedure does make a hole in your abdominal wall. As you note the swelling can be from infection or abscess. A localized cyst could develop or this could be an incisional hernia. Would be worthwhile to notify your surgeon of this.

Prior authorization: A patient, who has been recommended to undergo a certain procedure may ask her doctor to obtain "prior authorization" from her insurance carrier. The doctor will need to provide a diagnosis code and a procedure code and the insurance carrier will then determine, whether the procedure is covered under your plan.

YES: Myomectomy surgery involves removing the fibroid tumors from the uterus. We usually remove the fibroids instead of a hysterectomy when the woman wants fertility, the fibroids are limited in size and number, or the woman does not want hysterectomy. If the surgery is with laparoscopy, the recovery is much easier than hysterectomy or open myomectomy. Talk with your gyn about the options. Best wishes.

Check with your: Doctor, but i don't usually have any dietary restrictions after a myomectomy.  However, the majority of my myomectomies are done minimally invasive using the davinci robotic system. If you haven't had your surgery yet, ask about minimally invasive options.

will you ovulate after myomectomy?

Accepted Answer

Yes: A myomectomy is simply removing a fibroid from the uterus or cervix. It should not greatly interfere with your ovulatory patterns. So, within 4-6 weeks from surgery ovulation should be the same as it was before.

Not likely to : Lose very much from the surgery.
