which is more effective for lip injections: fat transfers or the fillers? which lasts longer and is safe?

Lip filler: hello ~ fat transfers are way safer. The fillers no matter how safe they say they are, its a foreign substance with problems known and unknown at time of injection and do not go away and might have severe long term problems. Be happier with a slightly less long lasting cosmetic effect but overall safer procedure. The fat transfer does work well for up to 5 years.Always ask WHY you're doing this!

Several points.: There are several possibilities which depend strongly on what was done. First, depends on the artificiality of the ingredient. Infection from the trimming is conceivable EVEN WITHOUT ANYTHING THERE. Infection is worse if it is plastic, less if hyaluronic acid. Reaction to the material more if artificial. Shifting can occur and hit a nerve (REALLY RARE). Swelling can make it feel funny.

Ice: Apply ice for  10 to 15 mins at a time to help reduce swelling. A bag of frozen peas is good.

Lip swelling: Often this problem is due to applying lip balm or other substances that come in contact with your face. Beeswax,which many lip balm products contain, is felt to be irritating to the lips. If you can't pinpoint the cause ,consult a dermatologist. In the meantime try applying cortisone type cream.

Saliva retention: Sounds like damaged minor accessory salivary gland(s) that do not allow the fluid to drain. Gland(s) fill then slowly the fluid is reorbed allowing the swelling to go down. See your dentist or oral surgeon, they may need to be surgically removed.

Time: It will take time to heal.  You could try some ice.  If it is not better in a couple weeks see an oral surgeon.

Other symptoms?: If there are other symptoms associated such as wheezing or a rash, please take an antihistamine. Wash skin with a gentle soap and avoid harsh chemicals. You may be experiencing a local irritation upon contact with a trigger. Keep a log of foods exposures four hours prior to the swelling. Consider a local antihistamine cream on the area affected. Please see your PCP,

24-48 hours: Swelling should go down within a day or so.  I it is progressively getting worse you may have an infection although that would be very unusual on the lip.
