Days: The majority of the initial swelling will diminish over the course of a few days.  However, you will still have some residual swelling that could take several weeks to go away completely. If you are having increased swelling or long term residual swelling, then i recommend going to see your board certified plastic surgeon for a post-op exam.

Swelling : Swelling following a major surgery can last for 6 or more months following surgery.  I usually use 6 months as a cutoff.  It is unusual for swelling to last significantly beyond this.  Sometimes it helps to keep the head of the bed elevated when you sleep.  The rest, unfortunately, is up to "mother nature and father time."  this is a bit of a vague answer.  Everyone is a bit different, so it is a bit difficult to predict.

Possibly…: Although the symptoms you describe may occur after breast reduction surgery, always best to run your concerns by your plastic surgeon. He/she may  want to see you, earlier than already scheduled, to rule out complications. Best wishes.

Months: Numbness post surgery is very common.  Depending on the amount of tissue removed during your breast reduction, numbness may last up to 6 months.  Some areas of numbness will never recover normal sensation.  Approximately 15% of women post reduction mammoplasty have decreased nipple sensitivity that will remain permanent.  Discuss with your breast surgeon.
