dr says wait til 50 yrs old to have reconstructive knee surgery. currently 47. what's the reason? do they only last for so many years?

Revision: That's the primary reason you are asked to wait.  Essentially, you should exhaust non-operative therapy: injections, medications, therapy, etc and once your knee pain is changing the way you live your life it is then time to consider a replacement.  Good luck.

i visited lewis orthopaedics last year for a knee surgery. i am fine now, no complications ...do i need to get my knee checked regularly?

Maybe: If you had a knee replacement you should followup at regular intervals as outlined by your surgeon. If something like an arthroscopy for a meniscal tear then it is probably ok to simply follow up as needed.

: Persistent foot numbness more than 6 months after a knee surgery with spinal anesthesia is not normal but it may or may not be related with the regional nerve block. You should see a neurologist who may figure out the etiology.

It Varies : If you have a meniscus tear only, once you trim the tear, you many not ever have any future problems. Due to the loss of a portion of your shock absorber, however, you may develop secondary arthritis in the future which means the cartilage on the ends of the bones can start to wear down.  This may take years or decades to happen if it happens at all.

had open knee surgery last tuesday & got my cast removed this monday. how do i get my knee to start bending again? it's very stiff & won't really bend

Talk to your surg--: Eon as he would know best what he did and how everything went. At this stage, pain would limit your knee bending, but continue as he advises. Pt would be helpful, if he advises at this stage. Heed his advise. 
Pain at this stage, after the surgery, is to be expected.

Second opinion: I suggest you have a second opinion, and have a thorough re-evaluation.  Many things can be uncovered that may help you over-come this problem.  If it was an arthroscopy (cartilage, meniscus, ligaments etc) see a sports medicine orthopedist, if it was joint replacement, see an arthroplasty orthopedist, and if it was a fracture - see a knee traumatologist.

i got knee surgery last thursday and i got 13 stiches. i was wondering if i can take a bath yet? or do i need to wait until the stiches are removed?
