Unclear on question: Do you mean how long would it take to get to therapeutic levels? That would be within the first day or two, and 80 is a hefty dose. T has a long half life, and will be in your system for as long as you take it. If that does not answer the question, I do apologize but i hope that helps!

No: There are many drugs which inhibit methadone metabolism, and increase levels of drug in the bloodstream, There are also drugs which increase metabolism of methadone, reducing its effectiveness and half-life. However, methadone itself does not have either inhibiting or inducing effects on metabolic liver enzymes.

Variable: Depends on how long you have been on this dose and if you were previously on a higher dose. Half life ranges from 8-59 hrs and may be released very slowly from fatty tissue and liver.

i took 15mg methadone a week ago, will it be out of my system for a drug test only a week of my last dose? please help. if not, how can i get it out?

Depends: If this was a one time use, it should be clear in a week, but if it was long-term it's less certain. Half-life range top is 48hrs, so you're probably good - but don't use it w/o Rx and that should satisfy a drug tester. It's good you care and use that motivation to stay clean! Best wishes.

Methadone: Methadone is one of those drugs where it's almost impossible to say when it will be completely washed out of your system - essentially because it has a ton of metabolites and a huge half life window. Could be as little as 2 days or 2 weeks. Hope that helps!

Talk to your doctor : Weaning off of Methadone is a very individual experience.  You could try 20mg. If you experience any difficulty, you should ask to talk to the clinic doctor. Some people are able to get off Methadone with little or no problem. Some people require a slower taper. I commend you for wanting to get off of Methadone. Typically a taper down by 5mg per week is best. Keep going to your meetings. Peace!

There's interactions: Methadone will have some cautions due to potentially negative side effects as a result of interactions with ssri's snri's as anti-depressants.  The tricyclic anti-depressants also have interactions.  This needs to be carefully evaluated by a prescriber with your other physical and relapse risk issues considered as well.  Speak to your doc !

i take clonazepam and i am prescribed methadone. how do i get a script for the clonazepam? ive been taking 2mg a day for 8yrs.

From one's doctor: Clonazepam is a controlled substance (the important thing is the reasons why it is a controlled substance). A prescription can be obtained by seeing a doctor at the doctor's office. Hopefully, this is how a person has been getting the controlled substance over the past 8 years. The patient and doctor should have an ongoing care relationship.

is there anything i can take besides methadone for chronic pain?  i have been on it for yrs status post spinal tumor removal. i get so hot from it.

Maybe non-drugs too?: There are a wide range of non-drug approaches to chronic pain too. Consider adding some into your pain cocktail to cover all the bases possible.
