From one's doctor: Clonazepam is a controlled substance (the important thing is the reasons why it is a controlled substance). A prescription can be obtained by seeing a doctor at the doctor's office. Hopefully, this is how a person has been getting the controlled substance over the past 8 years. The patient and doctor should have an ongoing care relationship.
