my 18mo baby, passed 1 red stool today. shes had 4days of diarrhea and a cough. she is on antibiotics- augmentin. she ate watermelon, some pasta sauce today. usg done didnt show intussusception. she is active. no more red stool.what could be wrong?

: Red stool can be from the red food she ate. As she had diarrhea, foods may be moving through her intestines more quickly than usual and therefore the color remains.If she had the diarrhea starting after the Augmentin was started,the diarrhea could be from that antibiotic.If if recurs,I would recommend contacting her doctor.Red, jelly like stool can occur with intussusception;US may need repeating.

Diarrhea: Self limited causes of diarrhea like intestinal tract viral infections or mild food poisoning resolve within several days, but bacterial or parasitic infections, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic dietary intolerance causes last much longer until appropriate treatment is obtained.

i am having yellow foamy diarrhea for two days, i no longer have a gall bladder. friday was the last meal i ate. it was high in fats.  will it stop?

Bile acid Malabsorpn: Approximately 20 percent of people who have had gallbladders removed will experience recurrent  diarrhea, a condition known as postcholecystectomy diarrhea. without the gallbladder, there is nothing to regulate the amount of bile that passes into the small intestine and the higher amount of bile can create watery stools.Luckily, for most pts. Time will resolve it.
Try small freq. meals, Probiotics

No way 2 know unless: ...you indicate whether you have recent exposures, are taking antibiotics or other medications, have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, know the cause of your recent constipation, etc. As you can see, too many variables to predict your (or anyone's) particular response to the drug you chose.  Live and learn, right?

Flu?: may last 5-7 days.  Stay hydrated and treat the diarrhea.  Supportive care is key.  See a doctor if worsening or persistent symptoms

Common cold: Diarrhea seldom occurs with a common cold which is an upper respiratory infection.  Not sure what you have, but if it keeps up see a doctor.

May not be related: Shallow breathing is typically not associated with intussusception.  Sometimes children with intussusception can have lethargy.  After successful reduction, lethargy should improve quickly.

Indefinite: The fussiness of intussusception lasts as long as the blockage is ongoing. Once relieved by either enema or surgery, the fussiness will subside.

Until it clears: Intussusception is an obstruction of the bowel, so nothing can pass; therefore, the vomiting lasts until the obstruction is fixed by surgery or enema.  Sometimes the obstruction may clear by itself, but i wouldn't count on that.  Remember, you will not vomit very much if there is nothing taken in by mouth, so the vomiting is not continuous.

Case to case: Few times it is intermittent with pain during intussusception and relief when it spontaneously relieves. This might go on and off multiple times. 
When it is not reducing spontaneously, pain constant until relieved by surgery or radiological reduction. 
This is a medical and surgical emergency so go to er/doc immediately if suspecting of intussusception.
