LVRS: Lvrs is usually done in pts w large bulla (air pockets) theory is that it allows the air pressure mismatch that has formed inside vs outside chest cavity to normalize (even though the actual amount of tissue is less, the tissue removed is no longer "working" ; the effect makes the other tissue less effective).  Surg often makes quality life better but COPD tends to be progressive even after.

Not always: Sometimes it can be managed with bipap which is noninvasive method of ventilation.

Taking a Temperature: These results are normal for taking an oral or external or topical temperature. They are not in any way unusual or indicative of any medical or health abnormality.

Not much: If you really have end stage COPD and you have 90 % fluid in lungs and not treated for it you won't live longer. Technically if you are end stage COPD and any fluid in you lung, you already will be on a breathing machine or life support.

Probably: You can always file weather they approve is up to them but people with fewer linitsxare on SSI right now there are large regional differences in acceptance rates.

Single agent: That is the problem when the new system tells us how to practice medicine. Anyway, ask your doctor for inhaled steroid alone first and not the combination along with the rescue bronchodilator and try to justify the combination later.

i've had copd for years. last week at my drs my finger oximeter reading was 84. the nurse kept changing fingers. why? and is this a low reading?

Hypoxia: This is a quite low reading, especailly assuming you are not high in the mountains somewhere.  The nurse tried different fingers to make sure it wasn't due to a localized blood circulation problem. Presumably you're in the hosptial, right? Your doctor(s) will be able to give you all the information you need. Good luck!

i have copd for the last 10 years and was looking over some paper work from the hospital, and my question is what is leukocytosis and the meaning.

Increase white count: Leukocytosis  means increase in white blood cell (leukocyte) count. There are many causes of leukocytosis but in your case it could be related to an infection ( causing COPD exacerbation) or related to steroid use to treat the COPD exacerbation. Other causes are possible depending on the clinical picture and other associated symptoms or signs.

i have severe copd, my nebulizer meds no longer give me any relief nor do my inhalers, i also have pain in my upper rib cage area am i getting worse?

Maybe: You seem to be getting worse by the fact that ur meds don't work. The pain in the upper rib cage may represent a different and possibly a more serious problem. Get in to see ur pulmonologist.
