Depends on the cause: Eye strain caused by the need for glasses will not go away until your eyes are properly corrected. The actual strain can last for minutes to hours after you stop straining your eyes. If you have a persistent discomfort no matter what you do, you should have an examination by your eye doctor.

Eye exam: This can be from dry eyes or improper focusing in the eyes- you need glasses.  Go to your eye doctor to find out.

Many reasons: You could have a sinus problem, the cough could be from the smoking or COPD or post nasal drip, the lighting you are using may mot be good etc. There are a few other reasons for your complaint. Please see you family physician and stop smoking.

i have a pain behind my right eye that started 2 days ago. it comes and goes. it lasts seconds and occurs every few hours. any ideas? no other symptoms. last eye check january this year. could it be eye strain?

: You are at about the age when the lens in the eye is not so easily compressed, but usually that would be picked by the ophthamologist or optician, it is possible that you might have pain from changes in the blood vessels impacting a nerve. This can frequently cause migraines. I suggest seeing a neurologist.  Best wishes.

Maybe. : You can try taking advil (ibuprofen) 400 mg 3-4 times for a couple of days along with warm compresses (with eyes closed). If it doesn't help consult an ophthalmologist.

NO: At its worst "eyestrain" can cause mild discomfort above the eyebrows.  See your doctor for evaluation.

Yes: Contusions over bones can take longer to heal. Try ibuprofen.

Not normal: Orange nasal discharge is not normal and may indicate an infection. Suggest a visit with your doctor for examiantion
