Depends on the cause: Eye strain caused by the need for glasses will not go away until your eyes are properly corrected. The actual strain can last for minutes to hours after you stop straining your eyes. If you have a persistent discomfort no matter what you do, you should have an examination by your eye doctor.

It depends on...: ...The cause. Eye strain from dry eyes can recover within minutes of lubricating the eyes or resting them. Strain brought about from an uncorrected need for glasses will not disappear until the you have your vision corrected. It is a good idea to see your eye doctor if you have continued eye strain, to determine whether you need computer glasses.
