More info needed: Blood clots in veins are treated with different types of anticoagulants than blood clots in arteries. To make matters more confusing, some people refer to a hematoma (a collection of blood outside of a vessel) as being a blood clot. No medicines are used to dissolve hematomas. So you need to discuss this with someone who understands exactly what the situation is.

To stop the thrombus from breaking off and becoming a pulmonary embolus, to stop the thrombus from growing larger &amp; reduce chance of more DVT. DVTs will not: "dissolve". You will need anticoagulation and/or anti-thrombus medication for the rtest of your life.
