Don't recommend: The reality is at some point you will have to have a 'relationship' with food; whether dining out, celebrations with friends and family or going to the grocery store.  Meal replacement plans are typically useful to get ready for surgery, otherwise have a poor record of long term weight control.  Eventually you'll have to quit buying the food and have a nutrition skill set.

That's fine: This is okay for a well-muscled woman, though substantially higher than most women. Ignore what "reference ranges" say -- a few percent of healthies are automatically set outside the range, and the range itself is for a sedentary population

NoneBestLearnReality: Despite all the commercials, they are not selling health but convenience ; reduced quantities, for a price! none of them have done large clinical trials (exempted by dshea act 1994) to evaluate their efficacy; instead hiring well-paid "celebrities" to sell their wares. While they do occasionally work for some, none have any long term success. Best study issues yourself ; learn what works for you!

atkins vs nutrisystem vs weight watchers. i'm 21 5^2 &aweigh about 200 .. what's the best way to lose 50-80 pounds within 2-4 months?

Atkins + Fiber: Atkins (0 carbs) is the way to go--but it's a tough diet to follow.  It's virtually fiber-free, and can cause constipation.  I recommend adding several tablespoons of psyllium husks every day (Konsyl, from the grocery store), plus lots of water, to keep you regular.  Also, perhaps 500-1,000 mg of magnesium.  Metformin 500 mg 3 times daily will also help with wt loss.  Walk at least 15 minutes/day.

Weight loss claims: When one of the thousands of weight loss products puts out an ad claiming a patient will lose 5 or more pounds in one week, a doctor usually thinks "pounds sterling" or "British pounds", as in money. It's marketing. It's advertising. To lose &gt; 5 pounds a week (it would be fat plus its related water), one can exercise all day and limit intake to 1000 calories a day... but it is not healthy to do.

Yes: I'm not sure if any direct studies have been done relating to diet and how long colds last, but a poor diet means the body in not being optimally nourished, which affects the functioning and effectiveness of the immune system. A well-nourished body will be operating at its best capacity to recover from a cold virus more quickly.

i have read that the b.r.a.t.t. diet is no longer recommened.  what would you suggest as an alternative for a 3 year old?

Many possibilities: I'm not sure what you've read but not all of it is valid.Kids routinely benefit from bananas, rice (cereal or steamed), apple sauce, pasta (without sauce) and dry toast.A good oral rehydration solution includes half strength gateraid, pedialyte or similar products.Avoid all juices (apple, prune, peach, pear) and use smaller but frequent feeds to sustain energy and hydration.

i feel hopeless ppis don't work for my lpr i can't eat anything i want, diet doesn't seem to help much i doubt i will live to 40 ino longer have goals?

Depression: What you describe may be attributed to depression and possible nutritional deficiency.  Please see your doc for an exam and then a mental health professional for therapy, not only medication.  "Feeling Good" is a good self-help book but get professional help too.  Consider a nutritional lab test called Micronutrient Test by Spectracell Lab in Texas.  Peace and good health.  Several pieces here.

Fad: This is a fade diet and will not work in the long ted. Expect to gain a bunch of weight back. You need regular exercise and a healthy diet. Go to a dietician.

is the 'venus factor' diet genuine? as in it says the hormone leptin is why women retain weight/fat.  due to having me, i can no longer excercise

Leptin is a hormone: That mediates long-term regulation of energy balance, suppresses food intake and thereby induces weight loss. Resistance to leptin can cause obesity. Venus factor is a rigorous program. Seek individualized plan relevant to your situation with physical therapist and/or nutritionist, and improve sleep hygiene as good sleep increases leptin. Consider leptin resistance diet and lifestyle changes.
