After healing: You do not want to disturb the blood clot, so it is advisable to avoid gargling and swishing of liquids in that area for a few days. If you gently brush the rest of your teeth you should be fine. You don't want a dry socket !

Hummmmm: I would be careful if an upper molar was extracted.  The air could cause pressure changes in the sinus and cause an opening between the sinus and mouth thriough the socket.   Either take a few days off, or very low pressures.  Otherwise, CPAP should not be a problem for the remainder of the mouth.

Not the tooth: It's the complexity of the extraction. And sometimes it's just how traumatized the tissue becomes.

Use a gentle: Alcohol-free mouth rinse that has been diluted with water to ward off bad breath and freshen up your taste.  Allow a week after extraction so as not to disturb the blood clot.

but a better choice is very warm water
with a little table salt in it

peroxide on an open wound can burn
the healing tissues

go with the hot saline 4x a day and be safer.

One week: It is safe to wait for a week after extraction to go bac to using a mouth wash.The tooth socket after extraction gets filled with a blood clot, which is very important for a proper healing.If that blood clot gets lost due to aggressive rinsing of the mouth, you may end up with dry socket, which is a very painful condition, &it would not allow the socket to heal, &you may need additional procedure.

Penicillin: Penicillins, such as pen kvm, amoxicillin.Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) are good.
Cephalosporins such as keflex, ceclore  are also good.
For  people allergic to those above, cleomycin is the antibiotic of choice.

Low chance: Was this your tooth or your child's tooth?  Follow the instructions given by the dentist.  No rinsing also means no rinsing with listerine for the first 24 hours.
Smoking is a major cause in developing dry socket so don't smoke. Soft diet  for the first day.  
If this is your child there is little chance of dry socket, slightly more for an adult.

Post op Extraction: Always best to ask the dentist who actually treated you. As a general rule- A few hours minimum when anesthesia has worn off and bleeding has stopped. Next day should be fine. Depends what you mean by regular food but a few days minimum, perhaps a week. No straws for a few days minimum, perhaps a week. Cold, hot and spicy foods as you can tolerate them, preferably not the first couple of days.

24-48 hours: The reason using a straw can be problematic is that the suction created in your mouth can cause the blood clot to come out. If the clot comes out the extraction site will become very painful.
