A member asked:

How much time do you have to wait before you can use mouthwash after tooth extraction?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

One week: It is safe to wait for a week after extraction to go bac to using a mouth wash. The tooth socket after extraction gets filled with a blood clot, which is very important for a proper healing. If that blood clot gets lost due to aggressive rinsing of the mouth, you may end up with dry socket, which is a very painful condition, &it would not allow the socket to heal, &you may need additional procedure.
