how far back are you supposed to remember from your childhood?

It varies a lot.: Some say they can recall events at  1 or 2 years of age. Children in elementary school  challenge even their parents recall of the child's early events. By the time we are in our mid to late 20s not much prior to age 4 or 5 is  recalled. Studies have compared actual known childhood events to our recall of those events. Recalled memories were found to be composites of several events, not one event.

No meds for that: You might be thinking about Altzheimer's Disease, a condition you might know as "being senile." I don't think you're senile.  You probably have a life-long learning disability.  Sadly, there's no med for that.   But don't give up trying to learn.  Start by reading children's books.  They can be fun to read and can help you read, write and learn better.  Don't give up!

Wound : Wound drainage, especially green slime, should probably be rechecked by your doctor asap.  May be a wound infection.  May be treated with antibiotics and opening the wound to wash it out.

Basics: I believe the dorsal slit was the first &amp; quickest method of circumcision practiced before equipment advances allowed a simple 360 degree foreskin removal. The procedure allowed better access for cleaning &amp; prevented a problem called paraphimosis where the glans could become trapped &amp; loose blood supply. It evolved to a more cosmetic procedure. Peoples preference varies.

Very unusual: If you truly cannot remember anything in your childhood, i would wonder if there was some traumatic event that occurred.  If your memory of recent events is normal, and you can recall things that happened last week, your inability to recall your childhood would possibly mean that there may have been events that were traumatic or upsetting. Perhaps seeing a psychiatrist would be helpful.

What age?: Many folks remember little before pre-school, except for very emotional events.  If the lack of memory goes well into grade school it may have something to do with lack of motivation to remember or maybe even some trauma that you'd rather not remember.  A clinical psychologist can help you sort that out.  If the latter is the situation he/she can help you possibly recall or live peacefully w/it.

Yes!: Very early childhood memories are the stuff of romance novels, etc; not all of us have them.  People who have suffered major psychological trauma in childhood (eg abuse, rape etc) often do not remember the events in their conscious mind, but it is not true that failure to remember means there was a traumatic event.

Normal : Some people do remember early childhood happenings particularly big ones , which leave an impact . I would not worry .

EMDR: You can't and dont want to stop dreaming but you do need help in processing these traumas. There is a therapy called emdr that may help you. See a therapist or ask your doctor for a referral to a therapist.
