I had dorsal slit when i was a child(i dont remember my age at the time). my parents dont talk about these things as they belong to a conservative family. does dorsal slit have any disadvantages over circumcised penis?

Basics: I believe the dorsal slit was the first & quickest method of circumcision practiced before equipment advances allowed a simple 360 degree foreskin removal. The procedure allowed better access for cleaning & prevented a problem called paraphimosis where the glans could become trapped & loose blood supply. It evolved to a more cosmetic procedure. Peoples preference varies.

Mini-circumcision.: Dorsal slit is sometimes performed when parents or older subjects wish to retain foreskin to correct phimosis and permoit foreskin to retract. Most cases cosmetic resukt is that penis looks neither cirumcised nor circumcised & cosmetic removal of remaining foreskin is requested. Dorsal slit is also initial part of Gomco clamp and PlastiBell circumcisions.
