It's difficult but..: Having unprotected passive anal intercourse with an HIV positive man not taking treatment gives you about a 1% chance per event of catching the virus. Other activities are progressively less risky. During the year when there was no effective rx, household contacts simply didn't catch the virus and even husband-and-wife more often than not did not infect each other despite no protection.

It doesn't happen: Blood borne viruses (HIV, hepaitis B and C viruses, or others) are not acquired from contaminated environments. Use common sense hygiene (wash hands etc) if you come into contact with wet body fluids, blood, etc. Otherwise don't worry about it.

HIV: If the oral membranes are damaged then the chances are higher. If there are cuts, damages, ulcers in the mouth then the chances are higher. It also depends on the person's viral load of HIV, the higher the viral load the higher the chance of transmission of HIV.  It is best to abstain from sexual contact with a person with HIV , less safe is using condoms.

HIV is Hard to Get: I am a bit surprised by this question.  It seems like this information is widely available and taught in most health classes.

But, HIV is a virus. If you have any behavior like sharing needles when using drugs or have a sexual encounter with an infected person then the virus is 'easy' to get.

Hiv testing can be accurate with the right test 21 days after exposure. The old test is six months.
