i am taking 500mg clindamycin 4x daily. i 1/2 done with them. yesterday i began having diarrhea. how do i know if is serious like c. diff?

Monitor: Hi, its difficult to clinically make a call if the diarrhea is c diff related or not.
 Clindamycin on its own can cause diarrhea. The best course of action is to consult with the physician who prescribed it and see if you can swap it. If the diarrhea stops after the swap then you have the answer. If it continues then stool tests need to be done for c-diff or other causes. Keep urself hydrated.

i took clindamycin for 2days, my 4m baby and i got diarrhea but er says 2days is not long enough to get c diff and her lbm will go away. is this true?

Clindamycin: While c.Diff is always a concern with any broad spectrum antibiotic, Clindamycin certainly has been implicated as being responsible for c.Diff.  However, Clindamycin can cause diarrhea on it's own, not related to a c.Diff infection. Clindamycin can cause a colitis but not often after only 2 days.  If the drug is stopped, stay hydrated and inform your doctor.  In most cases the diarrhea should subs.

i took clindamycin 3x daily for 3 days before stopping. i have had a lot of diarrhea and minor stomach discomfort since..possible c. diff?

Possible: but more likely side effect. Should take probiotics for couple weeks. If u have bad cdiff before then possibility go's up, along with being in hospitals as patient or healthcare worker

rx'd clindamycin 300 bid for strep throat, after 3 doses, mild diarrhea, is it safe to continue? worried for possible c-diff. is 150 bid as effective

Yes for now: just make sure you eat before taking the antibiotic,as it decreases the chances of diarrhea.

after taking clindamycin(2weeks) and metronidazole(3day) for tooth infection they ruined my stomach( feel empty and sore but no cramp) and had diarrhea for 3days. after pepto, the stool is still soft side but i feel better. can this be c.diff?

: We rarely use metronidazole for tooth infection and it is probably used for c. diff colitis in your case. Yes, c. diff colitis can not be ruled out by your symptoms after 2 weeks of clindamycin. Take care.

Possible: it is possible. If your symptoms persist, the diagnosis can be evaluated with a simple stool sample. Good luck.

Secondary infection: Antibiotics will often disturb the normal bacteria in your bowel and allow for the growth of other bacteria. Have a stool checked soon to see if this happened to you. All the best.

Symptom severity : A few loose stools a day usually is no problem. Get concerned and contact the doc who prescribed the antibiotic if many watery stools, cramping, fever, or if you see blood in stools.

C. difficile : Clindamycin is notorious for causing a C difficile colitis. You may want to be evaluated for this possibility.

why does clindamycin give me such bad of diarrhea?

Common: There is commonly an entity called antibiotic-induced diarrhea that occurs and is benign.  However, there is also a more serious condition call c. Diff colitis that can occur with certain antibiotics (like clindamycin) due to the killing of all of the bacteria in the colon except for that one particular one.
