Vacuum; wash clothes: To feel safe after the family had scabies or head lice, one can vacuum everywhere, and wash the washables (sheets, clothes) and dry them with the hot setting if the fabric allows it. Live mainly in one "safe room" that's super clean, and wait 10 days before living in the rest of the home. If extremely worried, repeat the vacuuming and washing once more, before living in the rest of the home.

Not necessarily: As long as you have completely treated yourself, your belongings and close contacts, you won't necessarily get reinfected.

If you cannot wash something, place it in a tightly closed plastic bag, for about a week. They can live 1-2 months on people, without treatment; and are very contagious.

Standard cleaning: As long as you launder clothes as usual &amp; keep the place clean &amp; wash your hands there is no reason for intense efforts to remove this mite. Without a human meal, they die in 48-72 hrs.

Scabies: No,and those can be flammable which makes it unsafe.

: Boric acid can get rid of scabies in carpet but it is very dangerous if inhaled , so you should discuss proper inhalation control  with your physician prior to use . I don't think it should be sprayed but rather just placed/sprinkled on the carpet with appropriate inhalation control..

No: It is generally believed that they are not viable after 48-72 hours.  Most cases of persistent scabies are from unsuccessfully treated or reinfection from a close contact.

Hello. : Hello. If you have scabies it can require a fair effort to get rid of it. First, you and all the members of your household will need to be treated. Ivermectin is an effective medication for treating scabies (either oral or topical).  Second, you will have to clean (ie. Hot water in machine the clothes, bedding and towels you have come in contact with). There may be some things like pillows that canâ€™t go in the wash. You can put them in a big plastic bag and tie it up. Keep it in there for 48 hours because scabies can survive without being on a human for 24 to 36 hours.  
     Also clean all the hard surfaces you have been in contact with (like furniture). Here is the bad news, if the old lady that you help continues to have untreated scabies; you are likely to keep getting infected from her or things of hers that you are in contact with. Hot water fine: Washing in hot water is sufficient to rid the clothes of the insect. For items that can't be washed for some reason, bag in a plastic garbage bag, seal it tight and leave items for at least three days. The insect cannot survive off the human longer than this, so that kills them all.
