will my teeth receive a deep clean immediately  after my braces are taken off to remove any stains or marks??

Accepted Answer

Different procedure: "Deep Cleaning" means to remove tarter below the gum line and curette any granulation tissues. Prophylaxis means to clean the teeth above the gum line, removing any plaque, tarter, or stains. Marks caused by ineffective oral hygiene allowing bacteria to etch the tooth enamel is treated with restorations. Your General Dentist will perform these procedures for you.

i have yellow bright yellow teeth that are crooked but i am going to get braces. how do i remove the stains?

Accepted Answer

Before or After: It depends on what types of stains the yellow stains are made of.  If it is a film of bacteria, it will be mostly removed when you get brackets, as all outer surfaces of teeth will be cleaned first. If the "stain" is actually decay, it is treated first. If the stain is within the enamel, it may be more practical to treat it after completing braces.  Ask your doctor which case yours fall in.

had a pretty bad depressive episode after i got my braces, my oral hygiene was truly lacking for a month. i feel better now so im taking care of my teeth, but im worried about getting those white stains on my teeth. can those be removed?

: The primary cause of white stains on teeth is Fluorosis (too much fluoride as a child). Continue careful dental hygiene and regular cleanings/checkups for best results. Any other stains can be addressed after your orthodontic devices are removed.

how can i remove the rings between my teeth (braces)?

Accepted Answer

Rings?: Do you mean plastic rings (spacers) placed between teeth to move them apart for room to place braces?  Do you mean metal rings(bands) around back teeth?  You cannot safely remove orthodontic appliances by yourself.  Return to the dentist that placed them for removal.

Not unusual: The teeth may be a bit loose and mobile and uncomfortable.

Accepted Answer

Baking soda + RDH: The slimy film is most likely just that: a slimy layer of live and dead bacteria that were hard to remove under braces. Now that the braces are gone, your tongue can feel it. First, make a slurry with baking soda ; water, and brush well with it for 2 min. Do not repeat this formula as it could be too abrasive for repeated use. If still filmy, see an rdh (registered dental hygienist) for a polish.

why do some peoples teeth get bad again after they have their braces removed?

Rebound: Teeth have "memory" and if proper retention is not used then they can move. Retention all the time initially and at night after, forever is the only way to prevent rebound. Also different forces in your mouth can move teeth, so your ortho and dentist need to ensure that you have a good alignment and relationship of your teeth and bite and habits.

is it possible for you to tell your teeth are stained before your braces come off?

Difficult: Based on the cements used for brackets these days, unless the enamel was defective at the time of cementation, i would expect the teeth to be the same.  Leakage of the cement would be seen as a browning at the edges and could indicate result in surface decay if not removed and recemented when observed.  Hope this helps.

had braces removed a few weeks ago a few bottom teeth are mobile how long should it take for them to become immobile?

Accepted Answer

6 month: It will take approximately 6 month for the new bone formation around the roots. You should wear your retainers religiously.
If concern, see your orthodontist for more information.

i have transparent and white  patches on the ends of my front two teeth after having my braces removed. is there a solution to get them back to normal?

Accepted Answer

Discoloration: May be due to damage from compromised oral hygiene.  Discuss this with your treating Dentist or Specialist Orthodontist.  There are numerous helpful treatment modalities.  Your a General Dentist should be able to help.
