A test ofLimited val: Ultrasound is commonly used to screen for any tumors in the abdoemn and in the liver. But it has its limitations as it does not show any finer details of your stomach...So inot a good test for ulcers. We have to use 2 or 3 different tests, depending on the nature of the suspected problem. This may include an endoscopy to check inside of the stomach and a ct scan which can check each of the organs.

hello doctor,i get hiv 4th gen combo test at 6,9 weeks came negative.its accuracy result?then i have acid reflux in stomach ulcer.when i expose after 2 days.i have sore throat also still now, acid reflux can cause sore throat?what sti test i take?

: A negative 4th gen combo test at 9 weeks after exposure rules out HIV. Your acid reflux is not due to any STI.  Acid reflux can cause sore throat and worse. If you are overweight, losing weight will help. If your symptoms persist, it would be prudent to see a doctor.

doctor,i take 4&9wks 4th gen cmia test came negative.its accuracy? i have sore throat 2 months,i take azithromycin 3days not cured.same time i have stomach ulcer take tablets.but still not cure.im too worried.what can i do?i take another test 12wks?

: A negative 4th gen test at 9 weeks rules out HIV,
HIV is only one of the STDs. A condom may not protect against HPV, Herpes, LGV, syphilis, pubic lice etc. It would be prudent to see your doctor for an evaluation.

transnasal endoscopy vs upper endoscopy to diagnose stomach ulcer? which is more accurate? i perfer to be awake, can i request transnasal instead?

Depends: If your doctor just wants to see if there is an ulcer there, then the transnasal is great. However often they will want to biopsy it. They cannot do this through the transnasal approach. So have a conversation with your gastroenterologist to see what the likelihood is that he/she will want biopsies.

Ulcer: Upper endoscopy is much more exact as you have actual visualization of the gastric mucosa

i had some ultrasounds and they reported low pulses in the ankles. i also have diabetes and what looks like starting ulcers and cellulitis. what  doc?

Family DOC 1st: Your family doc can help sugar and cholesterol and to decide who else is needed. Blood sugar needs top control (endocrinologist).  More studies may be needed to show the seriosness & possibly stent obstructions (radiologist)  a vascular surgeon might need to bypass arteries. A wound specialist for sure.A podiatrist for toe nails and special shoes.

for 3 mths at night time having sever pain follow by bulging on the lower r.side stomach endoscopy showed ulcer & ultrasound showed diverticula.the gastro dr doesn't know the cause. can you please tell me what's the cause? thx?

: The ulcer may be in a different place than the diverticula but you did not say; the ulcer is due to something causing a break in the integrity of the epithelia linning and it could be due to an infection like Helicobacter pylorii or due to abnormality of chemicals like increased acidity. The diverticula is due to weakness in the muscles of the guts that allows a blow out like a balloon in the wall

Yes and No: It can see a thickening of the stomach wall that suggests gastritis,  it can see some large ulcers, and it can see signs in the esophagus that suggest long standing gastroesphageal reflux disease.   However,  ultrasound would not be the primary method to diagnose these conditions.

chronic epigastric pain. eeg = ulcers, colonoscopy = polyps(removed), ultrasound clear, barium swallow&small bowel normal. still awful pain! what now?

Any treatment: The ulcers are usually treated with proton pump inhibitors or H2 blockers and if H pylori postive treat for H pylori and standard ulcer precautions
