Tea: Ginger tea will help with nausea, and the honey can help with soothing the stomach as well. If you have ulcers you should also follow the advice of your GI doctor.

Saline: A saline nasal spray will help if you have nasal symptoms. Mucinex (guaifenesin) over the counter also helps with the cough.

i'm 16 yr old female. i don't drink water at all but i drink about 90 ounces of hot tea per day with no sugar or milk or honey... etc. is this bad?

Too much caffeine.: Drinking a lot of caffeine all day long can make you jittery and it can keep you up.  You can also get headaches if you go too long without the caffeine.  Which means you can get addicted.  It is healthier to vary your diet, and it is very healthy to get used to the taste of plain water.  After you drink it for awhile you will get used to it.  Skim milk is also healthy to drink.

Have a plan: Better: have a plan for getting the right number of calories, balanced nutrition, exercise, fluid intake, sleep &amp; accountability. Tracking your data (calories, nutrition) is very useful (I use LoseIt). A personal traininer or class can be helpful. But make a plan, review wtih knowledgeable clinician, stick to it, BE PATIENT. Lose weight = short term goal &amp; alone never succeeds. Lifestyle is better

Unlikely.: I have not seen the common cold cause heartburn. I have seen tea, including herbal teas, cause such symptoms, especially in those who already require acid reduction. More importantly, please be cautious about your use of paracetamol, or as it is more commonly known in the USA, acetaminophen, Tylenol. The recommended daily limit is 2 grams, or 2000 milligrams. It is easy to exceed this safe limit!

See physician today: Without knowing more detail, if your daughter seems to be having trouble breathing she should be examined as soon as possible. Costochondritis would not cause any of her symptoms

Probably not: Honey does have some degree of calories but if used in coordination with overall caloric intake, it will no in itself make you gain weight.   If you are gaining weight, you might need the advice of a dietician and nutritionist to help control this.

Green tea is healthy: Adding small amt's of honey is fine. The linus pauling institute reported a study that suggested that green tea can assist with glycemic control. Studies show that the polyphenols in green tea have an anti-carcinogenic effect as well as leading to a reduced heart disease death rate.

Yes: Honey, and tea for that matter, are good for just about anything.  Honey and lemon tea are  not particularly famous for helping upset stomachs.  If you have a stomach ulcer, some people argue that tea or lemon could be bothersome but that's not proven.  Ginger tea is an ancient chinese and proven way to alleviate stomach upset.  Be sure you have a diagnosis of why your stomach is acting up.

what if i put active manuka honey in my tea does it kill the effect & benefits of the honey?

Accepted Answer

Yes: The irregular cycles make it harder to time when to have intercourse, either preventing or trying for a pregnancy.  If preventing, should consider ocp to regulate.  If trying, should see provider for help/information regarding reason for irregular cycles and options for pregnancy.
