Must b another cause: Choking sensation in the throat can be due to something other than an abnormality in the thyroid.  Because the anatomy in that area includes the vocal cords, the trachea, esophagus, epiglottis; abnormalities in any of these other areas may cause a choking sensation.  See doc. Common cause is swelling of the larynx or vocal cord from acid reflux which is treated with a trial of an acid reducer med.

For RAI to Work: The overall treatment is a little confusing as cancer is usually surgically removed, but there are a few reasons to lower your Synthroid (thyroxine). It may be held for a while so your left over thyroid tries to work and will suck up the RAI. The other reason is when the thyroid cells die they will release thyroid hormone. This could temp make you hyperthyroid. Eventually your dose will be adjusted again.

Hashimoto's: Hi. Your doc caught your Hashimoto's very early (the "subclinical" stage). I assume the diagnosis of Hash was based on thyroid autoantibodies(?). "Small nodules" need no further evaluation. Your l-thyroxine therapy will prevent you from becoming symptomatic from untreated Hashimoto's. Good luck!
