Dandruff: Dandruff, or seborrheic dermatitis,  is a common disorder that is believed to be caused by a yeast.  Most treatments are geared at reducing the  yeast.  Such treatments include nizoral, (ketoconazole) head and shoulders,  and selsun blue. Tar shampoos and corticosteroids can be used as well. This condition rarely results in hair loss.

Try hydrocortisone: This sounds like you have what is called "seborrheic dermatitis".  What a big word for something so common!  it is in the eczema family.  Shampoo with t-gel.  Try over the counter Hydrocortisone cream, rub in for 30 seconds 2 times each day whenever the rash is present.  There is no cure for this, it will almost always come back.  Don't get discouraged, just keep the Hydrocortisone handy.

Suspect Dandruff!: Scalp dryness and flakes are an indication of dandruff. You may benefit from using a shampoo with Salsun -Blue(Sulphur containing) and use a good conditioner after a good shampoo rub. It should settle down in 2-3 weeks of daily use. If it comes back or if it does not go away, you may have to see a dermatologist  who can prescribe Coal tar based shampoos which may work better.

Itchy scalp: Lavender oil, eucalyptus oil, avocado oil and german chamomile oil are excellent natural home remedies for itchy scalp. Mix these oils in equal proportions and, add some water and finally apply the resultant mixture to heal itchy scalp in a natural way.

Flaky itchy scalp: Most likely this is related to seborrheic dermatitis and one of the dandruff shampoos may help. There are a number of them with different active ingredients so you may have to try several different ones to see what is best for you. Some are: neutragena tgel, tsal; sebulex, head and shoulders, etc.  Shampoo daily. If it doesn't work see your dermatologist for medication to put on your scalp.

Seborrhea?: Without seeing it is impossible to know, but it sounds like it could be seborrhea. It could also be psoriasis. Seborrhea may be helped by an anti-dandruff/anti-fungal shampoo, but psoriasis requires more intensive treatment, mostly prescription.

Manage it: You won't be able to stop, so don't be hard on yourself. Some folks are wired to do this kind of thing with scalp lesions. What you can do is manage any dandruff / seborrheic dermatitis aggressively; perhaps ketoconazole would be right for you in addition to a good dandruff shampoo, and you can ask your physician about coal tar, sulfur, selenium, and/or a bit of a glucocorticoid.

Depends: If it is simply dry scalp there are many over the counter shampoos formulated for this problem. If you have an underlying condition like eczema, seborrhea or a fungal infection involving the scalp it will take an in person evaluation to decide a proper diagnosis &amp; treatment.

any idea what it can be and a basic treatment please?

Vinegar rinse: You will never see lice or their nits (eggs) until they have been active more than 10 days. If this is early you can sometimes kill/remove them with a good apple cider vinegar  lather/rinse applied for a few days. It can reduce the itching too. If this is no help find a good anti-itch shampoo.
