how to find prep specialists in my area? i was told i was not a good candidate, but i'm involved with an hiv + man. i am now seeking a second opinion.

Try partner&#x27;s doctor: I would suggest making an appointment with the doctor or clinic where your partner gets his HIV treatment. It&#x27;s a fair bet s/he understands all aspects of HIV treatment and prevention. But I wonder whether you were advised against PrEP because your partner&#x27;s HIV infection is well controlled on treatment, with an undetectable or very low viral load. If so, you are at little or no risk.

Risky Behavior: Giving oral sex with an active oral lesion is not advisable for you or your partner.  Both of you should be checked out for any possibilities of disease transmission that you are unaware of.  Your partner's statement that he is not HIV positive doesn't cover the gamut of problems you could both experience.  See your physician and urge him to do the same.  Herpes is easily transmitted!

my partner was diagnosed with sti and i  have to take treatment as well. i have am hiv positive and 7 months pregnant. now everytime we have sex my man's penis is painful afterwards and takes a few days to be better. what could it be?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. For the sake of your and your baby's health, you should be under the care of a doctor and be treated to prevent infection of your baby with HIV. You doctor could also evaluate you for dyspareunia.

It's good: You're not going to get HIV from frot / rubbing, circumcised or not.

: HIV  can certainly be transmitted ed d in breast milk. I have never heard of studies seeing if it is transmitted in non-breastfeeding breast fluid. With just a small cut in your mouth, it is unlikely the viral load you would have received may not be enough to cause infection. If , however,  you know this person to be HIV positive, you can be tested in 4 weeks to see if you turned positive.

Yes, highly reliable: The US Food and Drug Administration requires very high standards to approve tests for use at home without medical supervision, and this test is very reliable if the instructions are carefully followed. In the US, it is a "2nd generation" HIV antibody test, taking up to 3 months to become positive. 3rd and 4th generation tests in labs are better if you are at risk for more recent exposure.

HIV: Yes.  Transmission of this virus through semen that contains HIV and is ejaculated into the oral cavity may infect when it hits the back of the throat, the tonsils, lymph nodes, etc. It is very rare or non-existent to be transmitted by oral sex on a woman.  If you feel you may have been exposed to HIV it is best to go and be tested.  Better safe than sorry.  Be careful, it is dangerous out there.

Not 100%: Since the transmission is not 100%, you may or may not have contracted it.  Regardless if you need to get tested since early intervention may save your life.  You will need to be checked for other STDs as well.

Yes. : Probably not, but would not risk it. Clean the dried area with a 10% bleach solution.

Communication: It's very important to talk to your partner about health. If he's been positive for HIV for 4 years-has he been on medication? That's very important. Also, what about protection?  ID doctors specialize in this kind of thing-so good to have some conversations with the doc taking care of your BF, with you along for the apt. There's a lot that can be done these days for HIV discordant couples.
