Within normal limits: Reference (normal) range for platelets is 150,000-450,000 per microliter of blood. Many factors cause fluctuations within this range such as nutrition status, medications used etc. This range has nothing to do with cancer.

: While the perpheral smear may show large amounts of platelets, even clumps, the platelet count in the cbc&amp;diff has to exceed 400,000 in order to diagnose thrombocytosis. However, the smear doesn't tell you much more than this. : All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, iron deficiency is common in women of reproductive age and can be associated with high platelet count. You may take oral iron and multivitamins and retest in 6 months.

: Platelets can elevate when there is inflammation present. Inflammation can be present from many etiologies including infection, cancer, autoimmune disorders, etc Has the thyroid cancer been treated? Not 1st thought: Platelets are often down in CA. Eosinophil elevation is often a sign of a parasitic/worm infection. Numbness might be hyperventilation from anxiety over these confusing findings. I would have a thorough evaluation to sort this out.
