Hibiscus tea: At your age, the amount of estrogen in your system is very low, unless you are taking estrogen supplementation.  Hibiscus tea does not have enough composition to increase fibroid size, so if you have an enlarged uterus, or abnormal bleeding, see your gyn provider immediately.

No: I can find no evidence that this is the case.  You list your age as 21.  If there is a concern about a hormonal imbalance, talk to an ob/gyn to get further clarification.

can applying tea tree essential oil to scalp to deter lice end up stunting your growth due to the high potent estrogen content of tea tree essential oil?

Wouldn't think so: Over the counter preparations applied to the scalp &amp; most other skin surfaces do not have chemicals that are absorbed in significant quantity that they are found in the blood. As such they don't affect anything going on within the body.

i tried fennel tea today to help with bloating, but i read its estrogen producing and decreases the efficacy of birth control. im on my placebo pills & i had two cups today only. is that going to harm me? am i still protected on my bcps ?

BCP: 3 cups of tea while on placebo pill will probably be fine.  If you are ever worried about efficacy of your BCP, you can always use a condom for back up.

Giddy: The first thing to do is to stop drinking three cups of hibiscus tea a day for about a week.

If you stop having the symptoms you will no how to proceed.

If the symptoms do not go away it is unlikely related to hibiscus tea and you should see your doctor for evaluation and management.

Accepted Answer

Don't be worried: because your body took care of the issue.  Hibiscus tea is quite safe, even has some health benefits like reducing blood pressure.  Plus, it's tasty!  But maybe your body is saying you don't like it, or there was something else in it that didn't agree with you.  I wouldn't worry too much about toxins being involved at all.

can my husband drink hibiscus tea if he is on warfarin. he take 5mg. daily. his inr has to be 2.0 to 3.0...thank you?

Not sure: I couldn't find anything specifically about HIBISCUS tea, but tea in general can both antagonize warfarin (lower the INR) and also promote bleeding by interfering with platelet function which won't show up in the INR. That said, I'll bet a lot of people on warfarin drink tea, so if he loves tea, I'd say use it cautiously and monitor the INR.

: I'm guessing just a coincidence. Hibiscus tea does have some estrogen effect, but it is mild and I am guessing you drank one cup and not a whole lot. Even if you did drink more it is probably not enough to effect your period. If you really are bleeding a lot more than normal I'd be concerned about something other than the tea, though it is good to think about all possibilities.
