Can't tell: For sure, but it sounds like you are suffering from gastroesophageal reflux, or gerd.  Ask your doctor for medicines to control your symptoms, but if you have significant damage to your esophagus, you might need to have surgical correction.  Also, this could be heart symptoms, so see you doctor asap.

i have a hiatal hernia, but have not had pain in years. could propranolol or a head cold cause similar pain (sharp pains in & above bellybutton) & gas?

Check with MD: Don't think it is due to meds. Keep in mind sometimes appendicitis pain start around belly button.

Vomiting is: A significant problem, because you can get dehydrated rapidly.  I don't think nausea, vomiting, or headaches are related to your hiatal hernia.  Get medical help immediately.

Facets: There are multiple potential causes, among them, Symptomatic facet joints are often the cause of posterior based neck pain and headaches and are often under appreciated on imaging studies even such as an MRI or ct scan.  Consider asking to be referred to an interventional pain specialist where you may be a candidate for radio frequency ablation, a no surgical treatment for facet mediated pain.

: Can’t be sure what’s going on. In addition to your respiratory symptoms your WBC is slightly low and the Bilirubin is slightly high. Cardiac function appears ok but you may have intrinsic lung disease. Need to see a lung doctor.

now i have a slue of symptoms. dysphagia, sore throat, tender xiphoid, and random body aches. when i lift my arms above my head you can see the xiphoid. hiatal hernia?

: The possibility of GERD is there but putting all the listed symptoms together there might be additional issues as in "body aches". If symptoms persist it is appropriate to see the PCP for a hands-on evaluation with any other necessary investigative studies.

Laparoscopic Surgery: A hiatal hernia is an enlargement of the normal hole in the diaphragm muscle thru which the esophagus passes to enter into the abdomen. A hiatal hernia may lead to gerd by virtue of the stomach yo-yo-ing up thru the hiatus into the chest.  Surgical repair involves three key steps: return the stomach to the abdominal cavity, tighten the hole in the diaphragm, and create a new valve to rx  reflux.

No: Hiatal hernias don't resolve. Fortunately, most do not cause symptoms or problems. They often enlarge with time, but not always.

X-RAY, Endoscopy,etc: A hiatal hernia is an enlargement of the hole in the diaphragm thru which the esophagus passes to enter the abdominal cavity.  This commonly leads to the stomach "yo-yo-ing" up into the chest, which may cause gerd (reflux).  This can be seen by ct scan and by upper endoscopy.
