No: Hiatal hernias don't resolve. Fortunately, most do not cause symptoms or problems. They often enlarge with time, but not always.

Not by itself ...: hernias in general do not go away or get smaller on their own. However, if your hiatal hernia is not bothering you or causing symptoms then it may not require surgery. Hernias in general have a tendency to get bigger over time.
