OK: OK to take melatonin although xanax (alprazolam) does not appear to be contraindicated from what we can see.

Weight and dose: Effective medication dose and patient weight do not necessarily correlate. There is an effective dose range for medications and in general we start with a low dose and move up based on efficacy and tolerability. Heavy patients sometimes only need low doses and vice versa. Starting at a high dose can cause a person to have side effects and problems that would not have happened at low dose.

is it possible to have heavier premenstrual symptoms certain months? what can cause these changes?

: If you are not on oral birth control, variations in pre-menstrual symptoms can occur when two eggs are developing at the same time instead of just one, which elevates the hormone levels with more symptoms just prior to menstruation when the hormone level drops.  Ask your GYN physicial about oral bcp's which stop ovarian hormone production.

Hormonal imbalance: Normal periods should occur every 21 to 35 days ;#40;usually 28;#41; and should last no longer than seven days. Your heavy period and the change in frequency so suddenly suggest some problems that should be evaluated . Start keeping track of your bleeding days and see your gynecologist. You may have a hormonal imbalance, such as a thyroid problem.

i have been on the implanon for over a year and iv seen current changes in weight. i eat heathy and excersise regulary but my weight doesnt change

Weight loss ?: Implanon is a progestin insert, but will generally not have a major effect on body weight.  Weight loss, if desired, is best accomplished by increased exercise (even 30-45 minutes of brisk walking per day), lowering "pleasure foods" (potatoes, corn, rice, etc. as well as deserts, sweets) and concentrating on protein as a main portion of your diet ("modified Atkins type" diet).

how can someone be heathy at  5'6 230 at 43?  my husband glucose cholesterol everything that he was tested was normal. now he won't change his diet .

Normal: At 5ft6in and 230lb he likely is overweight. There is more to health than the numbers of glucose and cholesterol. He should be on a mediterranean diet and regular exercise program. Nothing gives a guarantee of health but we all have to work at it. If he smokes that needs to stop also.

Heavy vaginal bleed: See your gynecologist. Heavy, prolonged bleeding like that can lead to anemia (depleted iron in the blood causing weakness, fatigue). The gynecologist can recommend medications to slow/stop the bleeding after an exam to make sure everything is alright. If you are sexually active, they'll probably do a pregnancy test first to make sure it isn't a spontaneous miscarriage.

Hit it hard man!: This would be a great time for you to get really hard-core about gym and fitness. Skinny is good -- look at brad pitt at your age (picture). Protein alone won't build muscle, but you will get muscle mass from resistance training, creatine & if your doctor is okay an electronic muscle stim unit. A lean hard-gainer with definition looks & feels better than any other guy.

When it is soaked: But you should have an evaluation of the heavy period by your gyn for proper diagnosis and treatment so you won't have to deal with heavy bleeding and make sure nothing strange is going on, like an endometrial polyp, fibriod, pre- cancer, cancer , etc. You should go for an exam, blood work and ultrasound and you may need a short 4 minute in offcie hysteroscopy and biopsy to make sure u are ok.

Unlikely: Perimenopause is usually associated with less frequent and lighter menses along with hot flashes.  Heavy bleeding may represent anatomic abnormalties or your uterus or ovulation problems.  Your gynecologist can evaluate you.
