Normal: At 5ft6in and 230lb he likely is overweight. There is more to health than the numbers of glucose and cholesterol. He should be on a mediterranean diet and regular exercise program. Nothing gives a guarantee of health but we all have to work at it. If he smokes that needs to stop also.

Health: Normal blood tests are only part of the picture. Being overweight is a risk factor for several problems that may show up in time. Obesity will increase the risk of becoming diabetic. High blood pressure will be more likely as he gets older. The weight may begin to affect the joints and cause aches and pains. The weight is putting stress on the heart or contribute to sleep apnea.
