: Yes, the Thyroid nodule can be cancerous. It is not uncommon for tumors to spread to the Thyroid gland. So it could be a spread of lung Cancer to your Thyroid gland. Alternatively Primary Thyroid cancer can be present independently of your Lung Cancer. Depending on the stage of Lung Cancer, the thyroid nodule may need to be biopsied to determine its histologic type and if it may need to be removed

: There is no way to tell by looking at ground glass opacity what it is due to because it is a very non-specific finding. So, it depends on what the thyroid nodule is diagnosed as whether or not the lung ground glass opacity could be related. If the thyroid nodule is benign, then it is less likely to be the etiology of the lung ground glass opacity. See a lung doctor for the lung opacity. Good luck!

Could be: There is a possibility of secondaries from thyroid carcionima to to deposited in the lungs. But will have to check with a physician to see if the symptoms match and also need to possibly biopsy the nodes and the nodule.

what does this mean please?? there is a groundglass opacity seen within left upper lobe of lung. reffered for another ct of chest in 3months. should i be worried? the ct was for a thyroid nodule?

: Ground glass opacity means there is some inflammation in that area but it is a very non-specific finding. There are many things that can cause this so if you are not having any respiratory symptoms like shortness of breath, cough, etc., then repeating in 3 months is helpful. This can get better on its own but, if it doesn’t, see a lung doctor.

Possibly: Each thyroid nodule has an approx. 5% chance of malignancy, thus a heterogenous could be cancerous.  Looking at it the other way, a heterogenous nodule has a 95% chance of not being cancerous.

Solid still possible: If nodule is of reduced echogenicity and looks homogeneous like cyst, usually benign lesion. Homogeneous solid lesion over 1 cm can also be suspicious and needs biopsy. Heterogeneous may mean some necrosis in solid nodule. Solid thyroid nodule is more likely than cystic nodule to be malignant. More than 90% of all solid nodules, however, are benign.

Depends : Increased vasularuzation of thyroid nodule rises suspension fior  malignanccy . In this case fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodule is needed to rule malignantncy. Otherwise nodules with this appearance on thyroid ultrasound are generally benign .

It depends: Thyroid nodules are mostly ( 80-90%) benign . But it depends on their size and rate of change(growth in their size). A repeat Ultrasound study of your Thyroid should be done(I am sure your doctor must have advised you to do so)) in 6 to 12 months time to reassess for any growth in the nodules in your Thyroid.
