Yes: Anticoagulants increase your bleeding risk so it's not uncommon to have more bruising or bleeding. If you do have hematomas, you should show the doctor that is prescribing the anticoagulant to you. Sometimes the dose needs to be adjusted.

Apply Heat: Heat will increase the circulation and speed up resolution of the hematoma.

PS Applying ice after the injection may reduce the hematoma itself.

May need surgery: Laparoscopy, nay be next  step, then medication to control endometriosis

This can happen : When injections are given the nurse cannot see the veins under the skin.  Occasionally one is hit and bleeds, but only so much and stops, and the blood goes away in about a week as it is absorbed.

Yes: Yes. Can be minimized by staying away from alcohol and blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc) for a week before injection. And ice/pressure immediately after. injection.

hi, my son who is 6 has just been nipped by our dog on his bottom and its made a bruise and small graze, it was through his pants, not straight on to his skin. does he need to go in for an injection?

Dog bite: Dog bites can be sources of infection. Your son should be seen by a Dr to evaluate the bite area. If your Dog is completely vaccinated then there is no chance of rabies. BUT, since your dog has bitten a human, it should be assumed that it will bite again, and should therefore be kept under strict control away from others.

is it normal to have a really big bruise at the injection site after having blood work?

Accepted Answer

Yes: It does happen with blood draws.  The needle may go through the vein.  When the tech pulls back into the vein you may get some blood into the subq tissue.  Certain meds will make you bruise more easily. It will turn blue, green, yellow and fade away over 2 weeks.  If for some reason it is way larger than you have ever seen get your doctor to look at it.
