i suffer from heartburn sometimes it's so bad i throw up why? what could be the cause?

Reflux?: If you have severe enough heart burns and vomiting, you need to consult a gastroenterologist to have an endoscopic exam.  The problem is likely acid reflux.

i have persistant heartburn that gets so bad that i throw up then i feel a little better. i have tried acid reflux pills, and heartburn pills but nothing helps.  i don't know what is causing this.

At : At this point it is time to see your doctor. You will likely need an endoscopy (a procedure where your doctor will be able to look at your upper GI tract including your stomach). You may have a hiatal hernia, ulcers, gastritis/esophagitis etc. This is a serious issue since you are now vomiting for relief. Please schedule a visit with your doctor right away. In the meantime avoid any spicy foods, caffeine, acidic foods, medications including ibuprofen, aspirin, or aleve (naproxen).

Before food turns acidic? That does not take any time at all; the acid is always there in the stomach, and each time stomach contents get thrown up, that acid will burn the esophagus on the way out, causing more damage.

I hope you wouldn't: Making yourself throw up is not ideal. Since you have GERD, you want to avoid pizza so you don't get that sick feeling in the first place. Making yourself throw up exposes the lining of your throat and teeth to icky stomach acid that over time can damage them. You have a condition that is best treated through eating healthy food and if necessary, preventative medication.

See below: Coughing and gagging up the mucous is actually good!  your child is clearing her throat and lungs and this is protective.  If anything, give an expectorant (mucinex) and decongestant (sudafed) and then, sit her up, humidify the air and have the child spit out the mucous.

SOB GERD: Are you on medications  like  omeprazole, ranitidine? Have you tried maalox or TUMs. if they give benefit may be GERD. Perforation would be severe pain and SOB and after 2 days your would be very sick with low BP. No smoking no alcohol. no NSAIDS But would follow up with  urgent  care  doc today

YES: GERD is by definition Stomach and Easophageal Junction Laxity( valve is not closing properly ) and Stomach acid regurgitate into esophagus and one taste Bitter /sour in mouth. Depends on Severity.More common in supine position; so elevate the head end , do not eat 3 hours before going to bed. Try OTC meds for 4 weeks and then see your doctor if continues.

Acute Gastritis?: GERD can cause nausea, Heartburn . Rx Pepcid (famotidine)  or Omeprazole like drug .
If these symptoms are new and happening after you eat certain type of food; you should avoid them and take the GERD medicine regularly.
 If you smoke, or has any risk factor for heart disease ( like FHx of Heart attack, High BP, High Cholesterol) then "Gas pain, Nausea" should not be taken lightly.Get examined.
