Accepted Answer

Of concern: Work up for your anemia is needed in order to address proactively. An arbitrary limit for transfusion was set at Hb7.0, but you have symptoms attributable to anemia and will definitely benefit from a transfusion. Talk to your treating hematologist or primary care if you do not have a hematologist.

what is the danger or benefit of going past your target heart rate?

Accepted Answer

Variable: The target heart rate (thr) is usually 50-75 % of the maximum heart rate for an individual.  

Ideally you get the maximum benefit when you stay with in the thr but going over for a few minutes is not a big problem.  

There really is not major advantage from a training perspective to go above the thr.

is there any long term dangers of having a constant regular sinus rythym, yet slightly tachycardic heart rate?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: There is a tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy which is occasionally seen in people with a chronic tachycardia. The exact rate necessary to produce the problem is not clear but it would be less likely to occur with a "mild" tachycardia. When there is tachycardia, though, we always look for the cause. If your thyroid gland is overactive for instance that needs to be treated.

could losing weight a few lbs a week and low resting heart rate 40 be signs of danger? i started to eat vegan style and exercise moderately recently.

Accepted Answer

Most likely not: Exercise and healthy eating will lower your heart rate and cause weight loss.  If you are having symptoms, however, of a low heart rate - dizziness, passing out, low energy, fuzzy thinking, then you need to get that checked out.

my sister and i walk treadmill for thrity min her heart rate stays 85 mine 129 she takes blood pressue meds any danger in that i am 63 129 heart rate and she is 69

Blood : Blood pressure medications often include beta blockers like metoprolol or atenolol.  These drugs can prevent one's heart from going faster when one exercises.  If your sister is taking one of these nmedications it might explain the difference in your heart rates.  
The effectiveness of aerobic exercise is often judged by the heart rate one achieves during the exercise.  For vigorous exercise, a target heart rate of 110 to 133 would be reasonable for an average 63 year old.  Consider discussing your target range with an exercise physiologist or personal trainer.  If you get short of breath or have chest tightness on the treadmill, you should definitely discuss this with your doctor.
Other medications which can lower your maximum heart rate include medications to reduce irregular heart beats, some calcium blockers and digoxin.  H-2 blockers prescribed for acid reflux may also reduce the maximum heart rate. Ask your doctor if you need to use a lower target heart rate.

ive been having chest pains on the left side of weeks now with a sinking feeling in the middle of my chest? my blood pressure and heart rate has also risen a bit after taking pantroprazole. whats the likelihood of me being in severe danger?

: At your age, if you chest pain is not INDUCED by severe exertion, it is highly unlikely to be due the heart. Your blood pressure and heart rate are likely secondary to anxiety. I urge you to see your doctor for further assessment an reassurance. I see no reason to attribute your symptoms to pantoprazole. Wish you good luck.

my heart rate average 102 over several weeks highest 154 bpm  i use a diuretic for blood pressure. any danger or another treatment  please?

Dehydration: Your heart rate is higher than desirable and could be due to dehydration from using diuretic, Drink enough water so that your urine is mostly colorless. If high heart rate persists despite hydration, it would be time to consult your doctor.

Very complex: It is unusual to have so many uncommon disease conditions.  Do you have symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath, and/or fainting?  Have you found out why you are suffering from vit B12 deficiency?  Have you been worked up for gluten intolerance?  Have you asked your cardiologist re the slow heart rate ? Immune evaluation or CT sinus for the sinus infection?  All these need be addressed.

Slow heart beat: If you don't have any symptoms like dizziness, pre-syncope, syncope or fatigue or chest pain or shortness of breath, then you are ok. But you complained of chest pain. Hence it should be treated. Its etiology should be elicited. Thyroid problems and blocks in heart arteries should be ruled out. Consult your physician.
