ast level was 8 (normal 15-37). all other blood results are normal. even heart enzymes. what can cause this?

Normal: Just because the normal range is listed as 15-37, an AST value of 8 is nothing to be concerned about.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

chest and upper back pain and discomfort at different times during the day. ekg and heart enzymes normal.  been a week   what could  itbe.  please help.?

Hard to say: Pain in the chest and upper back can be a sign of heart problems, a blood clot or a small number of other serious problems; however, most of the time it is not serious.  A normal ekg and enzymes is reassuring but may or may not be sufficient depending on your specific situation.  You should speak with your doctor or be rechecked if you are not improving as expected.

had an ekg a few years back that said:marked st abnormality,possible inferior subendocardial injury.however several cardiac enzymes blood tests taken that day were normal. how likely is it that ive had a heart attack in the past with normal ekg now?

Old EKG: This interpretation is dependent on the reader of the EKG and the algorithm the machine uses to interpret.  Discuss with your Dr. and yes this is possible.

inferior infarct age undetermined on ekg printout. normal sinus rhythm. heart enzymes normal. had jaw discomfort all day yesterday & today chest felt weird. er doc diagnosed me with anxiety/panic attack. should i be worried about ekg inferior infarct?

: If this was a computer interpretation it should be reviewed by a cardiologist. Q waves in inferior limb leads may be only positional &amp; not indicative of an infarct. An echocardiogram can show an area of true damage and can validate the infarction read on an EKG. Your symptoms today were worrisome enough to recommend a consultation with a cardiologist who may order an echocardiogram &amp; stress test.

have episodes of normal hr until i stand & hr goes from 72 up to 110-134 & remains elevated until i sit or lay, also lightheaded, blurred vision, heart palps, and anxiety. fatigue afterward. pots? normal ecg/ekg, cardiac enzymes, echo, lab, & chest x?

: What does your BP do?  Check the device measuring heart rate by checking pulse your self. Ddi they do tilt test for POTS?  Go to Tulane.

The more cardiac specific enzymes will be less bothered but none are perfect. One would have to know what was going on before your enzymes were drawn to speculate what might have happened, including lab error.

Limited help: If your heart enzymes are normal (/not elevated)--usually while you are having some kind of chest discomfort, it is considered (much) less likely that the source of the problem is your heart. But, we always recommend follow up with your dr or cardiology to be sure not missing something.

can you let me know how many hrs does heart enzymes stay elevated after a heart attack?

Heart attack : Troponin rises minimum8hrs and can stay up for a week. CPK rises in 2-3hrs. Canbe up a few days.
