Pressure measurement: Right heart catheterization is usually carried out to measure oxygen levels, intracardiac pressures, and cardiac output, as well as cardiac tissue biopsies.  The right side of the heart is reached through the venous system (from the leg (femoral) or the neck (jugular) vein).  A catheter (plastic tube) is used to carry out the above tasks and a bioptome is used to do the biopsy.

Depends: Some of the medications can cause shortness of breath. If they were placed on Brilinta (ticagrelor), it may be from the medicine. However, if they have any chest pain or shortness of breath is the symptoms they were complaining of prior to stent placement I would have them evaluated immediately.

Lidocaine Safety: Lidocaine is a safe and effective anesthetic, when used appropriately. Since you are having an Echocardiogram, I assume you have a potential heart problem. Lidocaine can negatively affect the heart in higher doses or if injected directly into the circulation, as can happen in dental procedures. Have your heart checked first, then the dental procedure. Lidocaine does have reversible side effects.

i had an abortion two days ago and i didnt start bleeding at all until the evening10. hours later ever since the procedure. my heart skips beats. help

Bleeding: some bleeding for a week or so after an abortion or even D&amp;C for a miscarriage is normal.  However, heavy menstrual type bleeding or passage of tissue especially with heavy cramping could mean retained pregnancy tissue.  You should be seen by a gynecologist around 2 weeks after the procedure for a post op check and to discuss birth control.

See below: During pericardiocentesis the exploring needle is connected to an electrode which helps monitor the position of the needle. If the heart muscle is touched it can be immediately repositioned.
