Eat more : Frequently especially meat and protein products, carbohydrates, junk foods, exercise less and sleep more. Check your bmi (normally between 20 and 25) & have a baseline blood work including chemistry, lipids panel and thyroid function. Best  wishes!

Generally not!: The tend to be higher in fat and carbs, but still have plenty of protein.  However, i would eat"dark chocolate" separately and have an eas protein shake. The only potential problem is an adverse effect on your serum lipids. Good nutritional support involves more than a shake!

No: Weight gain comes from muscle mass and fat loss. Muscle weighs more than fat, which is why people who appear 'ripped' weigh so much, but aren't obese. Protein will help to repair and build muscle, but not only if used in conjunction with a safe, effective, and committed workout routine. See your sports physician or personal fitness trainer to get you on the right track to produce the best result.

How tall are you ?: Given your stated age &amp; weight it is confusing as to why you would want to gain weight. If you are at least 5'9" a weight of 168 lb would be considered at the high end of a healthy weight. From 5'8" down to 5'3" you would be considered overweight &amp; below 5'2" obese. I would discuss this with your doc before pursuing weight gain.

Do it safely!: Have your family physician recommend a clinical nutritionist, who can work with you on this issue. They can recommend nutritional products  that are not high in calories, but high in nutrition, or even things you can change your diet to help you do this. You do not want to take the sugary, high calorie, protein or non-protein drinks, that aren't nutritious.

Not necessarily: The key to gaining lean body mass is doing the work in the gym. From a dietary perspective, you need enough calories (but not too much), the appropriate vitamins and minerals, and enough protein to support your bodies attempt to build new muscle. Most people eating a typical western diet have no difficulty getting enough protein. They may need more fruits and veggies.

No: You can drink shakes of protein to be strong and do not do anything .  Like exercise.
