CURRENTLY, THE: Recommendations are for good fats in low to moderate amounts, veggies and fruits, low if any animal fat, minimize processed foods and have complex carbs instead of white, flour derived ones.
A beer or a glass of wine not too shabby either...

Normal PAPs?: If your last 3 pap smears have been normal, you don't have a new sexual partner & no history of "female" cancer, then you don't need to get pap smears after age 65-70 (depends which guideline you pick). You should still see your doc for your annual physical though.

It depends: It depends on the tumor. Is it benign or malignant? What is the source of the tumor? Is it causing pain or neurologic issues? You need to provide specific information to receive a specific answer.

: Taking pain medication may be helpful however the body is telling you to rest the area. It is important you continue to take deep breadth to prevent small airway collapse. It is preferred that you seek medical care if not improving or there is worsening of the situation or if you should have fever. Rest and deliberate deep breadth is important as you wait for improvement.

i am a healthy 70 year old man, never smoked etc., not overweight and my bp was 120 over 90.  would you prescribe bp medicine, if so what kind?

Accepted Answer

Not yet.: First i would have you repeat the BP at home and at another office visit to determine that it is persistently high.  A six to eight week trial of lifestyle adjustment may be warranted.  This would include reduced salt intake, eliminating alcohol and increased aerobic exercise.  Obviously, not smoking and maintaining a healthy weight are already under control in your case.

my husband, a healthy 70 year old had this procedure one week ago. pain has subsided. but, he eats little and is exhausted. why so long?

Accepted Answer

Exhausted: Many patients, but especially patients over sixty will be very fatigued after surgery or procedures.   Often they do not have significant adrenal function to recover quickly.  The adrenal glands make the hormones to help with energy and repair.
We give our patients IV therapy to help their bodies recover quicker.  Look up information on adrenal fatigue.

GI Bleeding: They should either recommend that you go in to see them or recommend a GI specialist or a colo-rectal specialist to be examined and evaluated.

No: Only when the obstruction is around 70% or higher we recommend surgery ( endarterectomy or scraping of the plaques )  but we order an mra or dsa to confirm it . In the mean time you could take 81 mg of Aspirin (if not allergic or contraindicated )and lower your cholesterol as much as you can..

Good Health: The longer into old age that a man continues to ejaculate the less likelihood of prostate cancer. That is a scientific fact although still debated by some in medicine. Masturbation in general has no negative health consequences.

COVID : If the only risk factor for COVID or other viral infections is age over 65, the recovery rate is excellent. It is still important to practice good hygiene, rest, fluids and monitor for worsening symptoms.
